八女古墳群の内、童男山古墳・丸山塚古墳・乗馬古墳・岩戸山古墳を散策し、犬尾城址にも立ち寄ったが北部九州では最大規模といわれる前方後円墳の「岩戸山古墳」の大きさに圧倒された。しかし、何といっても青空のもとに広がる茶畑の景観が素晴らしかった。茶畑では一番茶として摘採される葉が芽吹き始めていた。４月中旬ごろから摘採されるらしい。「江崎食品」では懐かしい「ラムネ」を飲みながら、小・中学生の頃を思い出した。期待していた「タケノコ」、今年は裏年なのだろうか？例年に比べ少ないようだったが、頑張って採取した。予定より少し早くフィニッシュしたので「岩戸山歴史文化交流館」に立ち寄り、九州の盟主「筑紫君 磐井」や「古代八女」の歴史を訪ねた。
