【感 想】
日米開戦を告げる日本海軍の暗号電「ニイタカヤマノボレ」で有名な台湾最高峰の玉山 Yushan(ﾕｲｼｬﾝ)に山岳会のメンバー５名で登ってきました！
玉山は日本統治時代には、富士山の標高3,776mよりも高い「新しい日本最高峰」の意味で、明治天皇により新高山と名づけられ、台湾領有期には日本一標高の高い山として知られ、大日本帝国の学校でも「日本一の山」として教えられていたそうです。
九州とほぼ同じ面積の台湾ではありますが3000mを超える山は268座あり、富士山より高い山は7座あります。登山道はよく整備されており山頂直下の岩場以外は特別危険な箇所はなく高度順応さえできれば普通に登頂できます。むしろ富士山の方が、ガレ場があって登りにくいかもしれません。
玉山登山は当初8月に計画していましたが、台風を避けるためとニイタカシャクナゲの鑑賞のため6月初めに変更しました。しかしながら台湾到着日に南シナ海に台風２号が発生してしまい直撃することはなかったものの梅雨前線を刺激して雨模様となってしまいました。
小雨交じりのなか登山を開始するも、途中から土砂降りに見舞われ全員びしょ濡れになって山荘に到着。夜になると豪雨注意報が発令されてしまいました。夜中は暴風雨となりご来光は諦め、私だけ雨脚が弱まるのを待っての行動に変更しました（他のメンバーは山荘で出会ったガイドの「８号５尺の山小屋まで来れば登頂したものと見なされる」との甘言を素直に聞き入れて主峰登頂を断念）。
するとなんということでしょう！朝５時頃から奇跡的に雨が止みました！霧のなかいつまた雨が降り出すとも限りませんのでコースタイム往復４：００のところ速足で２：３０にて山頂を踏んで山荘まで戻ってきました。標高3700m辺りからニイタカシャクナゲやエーデルワイスに似た玉山薄雪草が咲き誇っており山頂に登った者だけのご褒美も戴けました。
山荘にてBranchという名の春雨麺の朝食を戴いた後、また小雨が降り初めた中、早々に皆で足元に気を付けながら下山しました（ここではDiner 17:00～19:00、Breakfast 01:30～02:30、Branch 07:30～10:30と呼びます）。
玉山に登る前に①政府への入園申請・排雲山荘の宿泊予約と②管轄の国家公園署入山申請③排雲山荘の食事・寝袋予約が必要になります。特に排雲山荘の予約は１日あたり116名に制限されており1ヵ月前に抽選です。このうち外国人枠として金曜・土曜日以外に４ヵ月前に２４名だけ先着予約ができます。木曜と日曜日の外国人枠が熾烈な競争になります（私は予約開始日本時間8:00丁度にデータを送信しましたが、３番目で最後の枠をぎりぎりゲットできました。危なかった～～。 『テクニックとしては予め全員の情報とパスポートのコピーのPDFをダミーの日程でデータをSaveしておいて予約可能日に日程のみ変更して送信する』）。予約のHPには中国語以外にも英語・日本語もあるのですが、微妙な日本語訳となっており英語版の方がむしろ分かりやすかったです。これらの事前準備ができれば、もう登頂できたも同然です。
今回メンバー５名が同室の宿を手配していたので毎日合宿のようで楽しく、登山だけでなくグルメツアーの
