8 時半、山田交差点のコンビニに集合。成竹山登山口に移動。登山口には 8 台くらい車を止めることができるスペースがある。
9：00 成竹山登山口を出発。屋敷跡を見学した後、三叉路に出る。右に上がっていくと隆岳からの道にぶつかる。左に道を取り登っていくと、鉄塔の道に出る。右に鉄塔の道をたどっていくと小笠木峠に至る。今日は左に道を取る。しばらく歩くと一旦林道に出る。林道をしばらく歩いて、また山道に入る。陣の尾山に至る。
標識は一の岳とあるが陣の尾山である。山頂を通り過ぎて５００ｍくらい行くと左に下る。急下降である（ロープあり）。鞍部を経て登りあがると 11：50 一の岳に至る。昼食。
ここからは少しわかりにくいが、テープを頼りに下っていくと一旦林道に出る。林道を横切ってまっすぐ伐採用の道を下ると沢に出る。沢を渡る。沢を右手に見ながら下っていく。途中、沢を渡ってから道を左に取る。今度は沢を何度か渡渉しながら沢を詰めていく。沢沿いの道は涼しく私のお気に入りの道だ。沢を詰めたところで成竹山の急登になる。成竹山を少し下ったところから右に入って展望台に行く。ぐるり遠くは英彦山まで見渡せる。展望を楽しんで下り 14：00 ごろ登山口に戻る。
いろいろな表情を見せる那珂川の山は何回来てもいい。もう少し秋が深まったころにまた訪れたい。
